Bradford student satisfaction rises

The University of Bradford has bucked the national trend and improved its overall satisfaction score in the 2020 National Student Survey (NSS).

This significant result is a welcome boost for the University with its average scores for all categories in the survey showing improvement from previous years.

The NSS is a high-profile annual survey of nearly half a million final year undergraduate students across the UK. The survey gathers opinions from students regarding key aspects of their experiences at university. 

Vice-Chancellor Professor Shirley Congdon said: “This positive feedback from our students is most welcome, particularly as the NSS informs the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and national and international university league tables. These results reflect the importance we place on the quality of our students’ experiences. We will continue the positive work that has resulted in these improvements to ensure that our graduates maximise their potential and graduate career prospects.”

Some of the key points from the results include:

• Overall satisfaction is at 77%, an improvement of 1%. This is against a backdrop of a decline for the sector of 1%.
  
• Bradford’s highest rated category is Learning Resources with a score of 87%. The University has always performed positively in this category and scored 1% better than the previous year and the sector average.
  
• Highest rated against sector is Learning community with 79%, which is 4% above the sector average and has improved by 2% from the previous position.
  
• Bradford’s best performing courses for overall satisfaction, all scoring above 90%, are BEng Chemical Engineering (with Placement), Master of Pharmacy (with Pre-Registration Placement), Master of Pharmacy (Full Time), BEng Civil and Structural Engineering (Full Time), BSc Physiotherapy (Full Time), BEng Mechanical Engineering (Full Time), and BEng Chemical Engineering (Full Time).
