Biography

Dr Muhammad Asad is an Assistant Professor in Accounting at the University of Bradford, where he also serves as Programme Director for the MSc in International Accounting and Finance. He previously served as a Lecturer in Accounting at the same institution and has also gained valuable teaching experience as an Associate Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Hull.

Dr Asad holds a PhD from the University of Bradford, along with an MSc in Finance and an MBA, reflecting a strong academic foundation across both theoretical and applied dimensions of business and finance.

His research interests span key areas within accounting and finance, including corporate governance, earnings management, accounting information quality, corporate risk, and corporate sustainability. His research has been published in reputable international journals such as the International Review of Financial Analysis, the Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, and Business Strategy and the Environment. He has also presented his research at recognised academic conferences, including the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) Annual Conference, and Academy of Sustainable Finance, Accounting, Accountability & Governance (ASFAAG) Annual Conference.

Dr Asad has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has contributed to the design and delivery of modules such as International Financial Accounting and Reporting, Corporate Governance and Risk, Finance and Accounting for Managers, and Introduction to Accounting. His teaching philosophy emphasises the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application, enabling students to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to address realworld accounting and financial challenges. He is also actively involved in supervising dissertations, supporting students in conducting independent research, and strengthening academic rigour.

Beyond teaching and research, Dr Asad contributes to the broader academic community through peerreview activities. He serves as a reviewer for leading journals including the International Review of Financial Analysis, Africa Journal of Management, and the International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management, helping to uphold the quality and integrity of scholarly publications.

Dr Asad is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), UK, and a member of the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA), UK.
