Alumni ambassadors

Mahendra Patel is a Bradford Alumnus, both as a student and staff member (BPharm – class of 1980, Lecturer in Pharmacy 1997-2006 & PhD in Pharmaceutical Innovation 2002-2006).

He is now a board member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (the first BAME board member) and a Pharmacy Research Champion for the National Institute of Health Research; amongst several other roles he holds!

Mahendra regularly travels to advise, collaborate and consult with a variety of institutions, including Universities and Research Departments.

Thus, Mahendra brings a truly global aspect to his role and was appointed as our first Global Ambassador! 

Mahendra truly does fly the flag for the University across the world and is helping us to establish international connections.

Uzoma graduated with an MSc Applied Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics from the University of Bradford in 2022.

He is currently working as a Data Analyst at Bradford City Council, working with the Policy, Performance, Partnerships and Research Department. He is also a member of the Council’s Data and Intelligence Governance Steering Group, which is responsible to provide governance, support transformation, and ensure data-driven decision making across the Council. He worked on several significant data analytics projects to support decision-making around safeguarding of adults, promoting safer communities, and monitoring of equalities, diversity, and inclusion across the entire District; He also contributed to the Council’s culture project which would measure performance of Bradford’s City of Culture 2025, and other culture programmes of the Council’s partnerships.

David Owumi is a researcher, entrepreneur and global inclusive development champion. He holds a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development (summa cum laude) with awards of academic excellence. David currently serves as Advisory Committee Member to the Mayor of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority on Climate, Energy and Environment.

He’s the Founder and Non-Executive Director of West Yorkshire’s most innovative circular economy startup, Qinq (Pronounced: Kink). Qinq is currently an awardee of the UKRI’s Global Business Innovation Programme 2022 and NorthernMax Startup of the Year.  In 2018, David founded Africa’s first inclusion research institute, SALT HOUSE—Institute for Inclusive Governance and Sustainable Development. Through service and entrepreneurship, He is living up to that potential with a demonstrated history of working in civic & social engagement.

Anelisse Bivol-Nigel studied on the LLM International Law masters programme between 2016-2017.

Coming to study in Bradford from her hometown of Iasi, Romania, Anelisse made the most of her studies at the University and chose Bradford as the degree had the international focus she wanted from her LLM.

Anelisse has stayed in Bradford following the completion of her masters degree in 2017 and she is now working for the Innovate UK Edge and in collaboration with Enterprise Europe Network. This role see's Anelisse based within the local authority and supporting UK SMEs.

Currently. she is conducting her PhD at the University of Bradford.

Zoya graduated from the University of Bradford in Summer 2021 with a degree in BSc (Hons) Computer Science and a Diploma in Industrial Studies. She is currently working as an Associate Analyst at AND Digital, based in Leeds. Zoya is proud to be an Alumni Ambassador in the hope to inspire women and individuals from the BAME community, to pursue a career in technology and STEM.

Waqar graduated from the University of Bradford with an MBA in 2021. His background lies in consulting in the oil and gas industry of exploration projects Waqar is well travelled having worked all over the EMEA regions over the past 20 years and the armed forces prior to that. Since the pandemic, Waqar has been consulting in healthcare in both acute and primary care settings.

Konstantinos (Kostas) Karafoulidis studied for both his Bachelors and Masters degrees at the University of Bradford, graduating with a BSc in Psychology in 2015 and then an MSc in Human Resources Management in 2018.

Kostas now works as an Assistant Manager for iQ Student Accommodation, which is situated on the University campus, and is a popular and well-known figure - both from his time as a student and now as a member of staff.

During his time as a student, Kostas served as a social executive for the Psychology Society and was then elected as the President of the Psychology Society. He was also elected as a Student Council Representative by the student body and was involved in the Water Polo team.

Sheroze is a recent graduate who studied Law between 2012-2015.

During his time at the University of Bradford, Sheroze was an active student and was the President of the Law Society during the 2014/2015 academic year.

Currently a Trainee Solicitor, Sheroze is dedicated to developing his skills and knowledge within the legal industry.

Sheroze was keen to become an Alumni Ambassador to be able to support current students and fellow recent graduates, by sharing his experiences of entering the working world, and in particular, entering the legal industry.

As evidence of this commitment, Sheroze supported a careers event on campus by attending as a Panellist and sharing his knowledge and experiences with over 50 current students.

Whitney Then graduated with a BSc in Human Resource Management in 2016 having arrived in Bradford from Brunei in 2012 to start her journey in the UK.

Whitney currently works as a Solution Architect, combining her technological skills with her HRM knowledge.

As an Ambassador, Whitney has supported events on campus including at Open Days and as a panellist at student-focussed events.  

Whitney remains close to the University; having initially moved to London for work she then returned to West Yorkshire.

Vicky Setiawan, is a Bradford University School of Management Alumnus, graduated in 2007 majoring in International Business & Management with a degree in Master of Arts (MA). Pursuing his interest in International Business Environment, he conducted a dissertation about China’s Outward Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Vicky currently works at one of Indonesian Conglomerates, with more than 13 years of cross-department exposure who acts as a Strategic Partner & Project Manager in Business/ Corporate Development and Marketing.

Vicky has so far supported the delivery of an international alumni event in Jakarta and is keen to grow our Indonesia alumni community through future events and activities.

Ravi Hazarika graduated in 2011 with an MBA, specialising in Marketing

Currently working as a Sales Director in Bangalore, India, Ravi has years of experience in sales and management in the Aeronautics, Space & Defence Industry sector in India.

As an Alumni Ambassador, Ravi has supported a large University event in Bangalore, India, delivered talks and helped to promote engineering masters programmes to colleagues in his previous company.

Fahad Iqbal came to the University of Bradford to study for an MSc in International Marketing and graduated in 2014.

Applying his degree to his career, Fahad currently works as a digital media specialist in Islamabad although he originates from Lahore and often travels between the cities.

As part of his role as an Ambassador, Fahad has supported alumni gatherings and events in Lahore and Islamabad and is always happy to support students and graduates.

Muhammad completed his MSc in International Business & Management in 2008 at the School of Management. He has more than 15 years of experience in project management and currently holds a senior management position in the projects department at ABB.

Muhammad has been actively associated with the UOB alumni ambassador program since 2010 and supported several events at the University including open days, recruitment, networking, and career events. He has also provided valuable guidance and insight to several prospective students from Pakistan, UAE, Saudi Arabia & UK.

Khishiguskh B. graduated from the University of Bradford in 2015 with an MBA. She currently works as an analyst at the largest local commercial bank in Mongolia. As a project manager at her previous post, she has experience delivering 70+ projects of various sizes. Furthermore, she has experience teaching English as well as translating and interpreting between languages Mongolian, English and Japanese. 

She joined Alumni Ambassador Team of University of Bradford in January 2023 and is excited to contribute as much as she can.

Joerex Tsang completed his Distance Learning MBA in 2011 in Hong Kong and although he has never been to Bradford, he is very passionate about supporting UoB and his fellow alumni!

Joerex actively works to connect fellow Bradford alumni in Hong Kong, setting up a Facebook and WhatsApp group for alumni and helping to coordinate social and networking events in Hong Kong.

Keen to support Bradford graduates who are moving, visiting, or returning to Hong Kong, Joerex will happily connect you to the Hong Kong alumni network and provide advice.

Sze Hang Ko (Tony) i a physiotherapist, specialised in treating musculoskeletal conditions, with broad experience of working in both public and private healthcare sector of Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. I graduated from the University of Bradford with BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy with First Class Honours. I am currently working as a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist in a private hospital in Kent, United Kingdom.

I am also an Alumni Ambassador of the University of Bradford supporting prospective and current students and graduates in both Hong Kong and the UK. I also support the student recruitment and welcoming events of the University.

Dean is a born and bred entrepreneur. After graduating from his MSc Management course in 2014, he has gone on to head several start-up businesses in key executive positions. Most recently, he has founded Kazehi Global, an award winning B2B lead generation and deal facilitating firm based in Singapore that serves clients on an international scale. Kettie Lungu completed her Msc Finance, Management and Accounting in 2022 at the University of Bradford. She works with the Ministry of Finance in Malawi. Kettie is dedicated to organising activities in Sub–Saharan Africa, particularly Malawi, South Africa, Zambia and Tanzania to promote the University of Bradford, courses offered at the institution, activities offered, facilities and the amazing diverse culture.

Kettie likes working with students because she believes there is always that fear of the unknown for prospective students. Wherever you are stuck be it on the application process or understanding the courses and modules, Kettie is always ready to help you. Kettie's ambition is also to connect students to opportunities at Bradford, alongside accessing different scholarships and financial aid opportunities.

Samuel Awudi is a proud Ambassador of Bradford who lives in Ghana. 

He graduated from Bradford in 2015 with an MSc in Finance and currently works as an Educational Agent supporting Ghanaian students in their progression to study in the UK.

Samuel has supported the development of the Bradford Alumni Network in Ghana and set up a WhatsApp group to allow alumni in Ghana to connect with each other.

Regina was awarded the Rotary Peace Fellowship to study at the University of Bradford and graduated with an MA in Peace, Conflict and Development, 2017. Since her graduation, Regina has supported various alumni events, is the main admin for the alumni group in Kenya and is also happy to help potential Rotary Peace Fellows with the application process. 

She currently works with the Kenyan Government and in her spare time she volunteers in her local community, primarily on projects related to peace and development.

Isaac Otabor completed his MSc in Project Planning and Management in 2016 at the School of Management.

Isaac found his time in Bradford both enriching and beneficial for his personal and professional development, and, now he currently works as a Public Finance Management Specialist in DAI, one of the leading International Development Consulting firm. 

Passionate about developing a well connected and resourced alumni group, Isaac plays his role as a member of our Abuja Alumni Group, while also, supporting the University's recruitment and outreach activities in Nigeria by attending fairs and visiting schools to promote education in the UK.

Having previously studied International Relations in China, Oboue found himself at the University of Bradford as a Chevening Scholar, following his passion for a better world. He graduated in 2021 with a MSc Advanced Practice in Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution.

During his time at Bradford he was awarded the Student Language Teacher Award for 2020/21 and the Social Ambassador Prize for going above and beyond to promote activities of PSID and silver winner at the Chevening Volunteering Awards 2020/21. 

Oboue is currently an Associate Professor at the University Felix Houphouet Boigny, Cocody Abidjan (Cote D’Ivoire). He is also the Community Leader and President of the Leadership Initiative Board (LIB).

Idrisa graduated in 2021 with an MA in Peace, Conflict and Development as a Rotary Peace Fellow. He currently works as Project Officer for the Catholic  Relief Services(CRS) and is also CRS Liberia Safeguarding focal contact for the country program. 
 
As part of his Alumni Ambassador role, Idrisa is keen to engage with and support any current and prospective students from Liberia and other countries in the region.

Moses Wawich Thok, who was a refugee from Ethiopia, completed his MA in Conflict, Security and Development in the 2010/2011 academic year.

Currently, Moses is based in Bradford while he develops his research proposal for a PhD with the Peace Studies and International Development Department, focusing on pastoralists and farmers' conflict in the Equatoria region of South Sudan.

Alongside this, Moses is working to establish a knowledge centre in South Sudan where researchers can earn field experience.

As part of his Alumni Ambassador tole, Moses is keen to engage with and support any current and prospective students - from South Sudan and other countries in the region - and fellow alumni who are interested in learning about South Sudan and Ethiopia.

Muhammed studied at the International Development Management Programme at the University of Bradford and earned his Msc International Business in 2020. Muhammed was awarded the Great Scholarship which is financed by the British Council and the University of Bradford. He recently worked as Industry Analyst at a renowned AI research company.

Ceren Ergin studied MSc Finance and Investment between 2019-2020 at the University of Bradford. She was awarded the British Council Great Turkey Scholarship for the program at the University of Bradford. She worked in PwC Istanbul as an Audit Associate for 2 years after graduation. She is currently a Financial Controller at Multi Turkey, and she is based in Istanbul. Ceren is proud to be an Alumni Ambassador and aims to support the growth of our Alumni community in Turkey.

Hamad Alshammari graduated in Civil and Structural Engineering in 2013 and now works as an Expert Engineer in the Ministry of Justice in Kuwait.

Hamad was proud to become an Alumni Ambassador to help support current students, applicants and fellow graduates.

Having served as the president for the National Union of Kuwaiti student (UK and Ireland Branch) between 2010-2011, Hamad gained experience in supporting a network of students and promoting opportunities to them.

As an Ambassador, Hamad has helped support two alumni events in Kuwait and engaged our attendees and promoted the benefit of being part of a connected group of graduates in Kuwait.

Dr Ahmed Alshatti completed his PhD in Management between 1998-2004 and has served as one of our Alumni Ambassadors since October 2018.

Over his tenure as an Ambassador he has supported group events and fellow Bradford alumni in Kuwait and attended recruitment fairs to speak to prospective applicants.

He is currently semi-retired but is the owner of Global Vision, a management consultancy firm.

Qaher Khaled graduated in MSc Marketing in 2016, after coming to study in Bradford from Cairo, Egypt.

As an Alumni Ambassador, Qaher has played a key role in establishing our Alumni Group in Egypt, for example, organising our first official alumni dinner in Cairo and establishing our group's WhatsApp page.

Qaher currently works as a Deputy Marketing Manager for a study abroad organisation, helping his fellow Egyptians go to study abroad as he did in Bradford.

Zak is an exceptional international Telecoms executive, currently Head of consumer Sales with Vodafone Egypt after earlier roles including Head of Corporate Sales, Head of Government Sales, Head of Enterprise Products & Solutions Marketing, and Senior Manager, Program Management Office.

His specific skills and experience encompass Sales & Marketing Leadership (with excellent technical awareness), B2B Business Development, negotiating complex ICT solutions, long-term relationship building, corporate governance, program management, building and managing complex enterprise products & services (including go-to-market) and information security. Zak also prides himself on the ability to deliver high-level interpersonal and people management skills - from staff to C-Level - and can lead diverse and multinational teams to success.

Zak possesses a DBA in Management from Bradford School of business focused on Crisis Managment in Telecom. His other qualifications included an MBA (Strategic Planning) from Heriot Watt University, a Masters in Business Information Technology from Middlesex University, a BSc. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, ITIL Certified Service Manager and speaks Arabic and English fluently with a good level of conversational German.

Dr. Hossam Omara earned his Ph.D. in Business & Management with distinction in 2021, and he was granted the Dean’s prize for innovation and impact in doctoral research. His doctoral research work at the university of Bradford has led to the publication of empirical research that investigates the potential contribution of multidimensional diversity aspects to corporate value-based performance and sustainability enhancement.

He currently works for the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Egypt, one of the leading research institutes and specialized educational agencies in the Arab League. As a verified educator at Harvard Business Publishing, he keeps up-to-date with industry developments and knowledge of international finance, corporate accounting, and logistics principles.

He has been offering his experience in the higher education and scientific research sector since 2009 to prospective (applicants/enquirers) and current students and alumni who are based in the MENA region, providing them with some of his knowledge and supporting key offices and personnel of the university.

Dimitrios (Dimitri) Savvaidis earned his MSc in Civil & Structural Engineering in 2008.

He has been working in the Middle East for the past 9 years. He is heading business development and special operations for a group of engineering consulting and contracting companies, and spends his time between Dubai, Riyadh and Beirut. 

Dimitri has lived and worked in Greece, UK, Luxembourg, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and UAE. During his free time he enjoys cooking, skippering, and traveling.

Dimitri would be happy to assist current and prospective students interested in studying at Bradford.

Shahid A. Baloch graduated from University of Bradford, School of Management with an Executive MBA in 2001.

Shahid is a highly experienced Corporate Banker with over 25 years banking experience in the UAE. He was Executive Vice President & Head of Corporate Banking for United Arab Bank for 10 years, and previously headed their Structured Finance and Syndication business.

Post his long banking career he worked with IA Group, as Head of Debt Advisory, which was a boutique management & business consultancy focusing on M&A transactions but also offering a broad range of services to its clients. More recently, Shahid has moved on to set up  his own consultancy and currently focuses on debt and strategic advisory to small and medium sized businesses in the UAE and overseas.

Shahid is the Administrator of the UAE Alumni Facebook Group and is also Founder of UoB UAE Alumni. This forum aims to provide continued learning & self development as well as creating opportunities for networking among Alumni members here in the UAE. Shahid has already successfully organized, with fellow UAE Ambassador Dimitri Savvaidis, several UAE Alumni in-person events.

Tarek Samaha completed his MBA in 2010 and currently works as a Business Excellence Consultant in Dubai, working with high level organisations to improve their operations.

Tarek is keen to work closely with our Dubai Campus to support both current students and fellow alumni who are based in Dubai; providing them with some of his knowledge and supporting the development of our Duabi Alumni Community.

Hani Suwwan graduated from the University of Bradford in 2017, having studied his distance learning MBA between 2015-2017.

Hani currently works as a Business Development Manager, who is based in Jordan but operates across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Hani is the Administrator of our MENA Alumni Facebook Group, providing a social forum for our Alumni across the MENA region.
