Vibrational Spectroscopy

The Vibrational Spectroscopy facility at the Centre offers a range of molecular spectroscopy capabilities for material characterisation and problem solving.  Our experts have practical experience analysing a wide variety of materials using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Raman Spectroscopies. An extensive range of instrumentation allowing optimisation of experiment and, though a range of excitation frequencies, opportunities to overcome fluorescence often associated with biomolecular systems.

  • 785, 633 and 514 nm lasers;
  • Line-focus stage for a collection of 2-dimensional spectral arrays (maps).

Renishaw Raman RX210 (RIAS)

  • Portable, remote probe;
  • 785 nm laser.

Digilab FT-IR Microscope

  • Analysis using a microscope (ATR);
  • KBr disc;
  • Thin-film / Nujol mull;
  • Liquid and gas cells.
