Physiotherapy and Sports Rehabilitation Clinic

Please note: the Clinic is now closed until September.

The physiotherapy and sports rehabilitation clinic is student-led, and open to university staff, students, and the general public over the age of 16. 

You do not need to have seen your GP prior to attending.

Conditions we treat

Physical fitness and wellbeing

Including fitness testing, techniques analysis, soft tissue massage, exercise programme development, return to play and clinical Pilates.

Musculoskeletal

For all your musculoskeletal assessment and treatment requirements. Includes the treatment of spinal, upper and lower limb musculoskeletal conditions including multi joint and chronic pain conditions.

Clinic staff

Our Physiotherapy staff are all registered with the Health Care and Professions Council.

I have been qualified as a Physiotherapist for 15 years working across various disciplines, predominantly musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

I spent 7 years in professional sport as head Physio for Bradford Bulls and Hull FC rugby league teams.

My main interest is in exercise, focusing on utilising strength and conditioning principles for rehabilitation, improving performance and function, and promoting healthy behaviour and lifestyle changes. I like to follow my own advice and as such, I am a keen recreational runner, cyclist, and triathlete!

Since qualifying in 2007, I have worked across a variety of disciplines, predominantly focusing on musculoskeletal physiotherapy, persistent pain, professional sport, and orthopaedics.

My main areas of interest are persistent pain, rehab, sports injury and strength and conditioning. I want to understand the patient's lived experience of their symptoms to understand how their symptoms are affecting their lives.

Tim Woodhead Physiotherapy Lecturer Practitioner

I graduated from the University of Bradford in 2000 and worked as a Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist until 2021.

Initially, I worked in the NHS before working in private practice in both the UK and overseas, and more recently I worked as an FCP in Primary Care.

I have a keen interest in sports and completed an MSc in Sports and Exercise Injury Management in 2004. I have worked in elite Rugby League and Mixed Martial Arts, as well as with athletes from a diverse range of sports. My areas of interest are Injection Therapy and the use of Diagnostic Ultrasound in both practice and teaching.

Since I qualified in 2006, from the University of Bradford, I have worked largely in musculoskeletal practice.  

I have also trained as a veterinary physiotherapist, specialising in horses, and have a particular interest in managing horse riders with MSK pain. 

Alongside working in the student clinic, I also work as an Advanced MSK Practitioner in the NHS, with a special interest in wrist and hand pathology.

Getting here

By car

From Shearbridge Road enter Longside Lane. Turn right at the barrier and park in the top right car park facing Shearbridge Road. Walk through the opening in the top left perimeter wall and turn left, where you will see DHEZ Academic. 

On foot

From the city centre walk up Great Horton Road, past Bradford College and the main University building. Continue up Great Horton Road and turn right on to Shearbridge Road at the mini-roundabout. Take the first right opposite Bombay Stores where you will see DHEZ Academic.

By bus

Take the 576 Halifax bus from Bradford Interchange (service every 10 minutes), alight at Shearbridge Road then as above.
